 I don't blame Chuck Berry one bit for demanding to be paid. He'd probably been burned one too many times.

R&R musicians got ripped off so badly by promoters and record labels.

Even mild-mannered Buddy Holly carried a gun with him on tours. And look at how Holly was treated on the ridiculous "winter dance party" - the organizers should have been sued into bankruptcy by his family. After the plane crash, the surviving musicians were stiffed on money they were owed.

I haven't seen the Allan Freed movie in decades, and I don't remember much about it. Was the payola scandal dramatized in the movie, or was it glossed over?
