Oh dear, not a Western fan then Dave? 'On the prod' means provoking or prodding someone into an argument, and used light-heartedly by me, I hasten to add! 'Soiled dove' is one of the names given to a lady who works in an establishment of ill-repute and who is prepared to sell her favours, and more, for money; I hope that explains it!
I was thinking of the song that Sonny wrote, 'The Real Buddy Holly Story', in which he sings, "...but all I got is a song and my story's got to rhyme". Yes, unfortunately having a chat and a beer with Sonny is not likely, but who knows for sure...? Good to have this discussion!
