 Having been accused of inanity, above, I claim the right of reply and would like to observe that inanity, if any, resides principally in
1. The choice of title for the book and
2. The author's response to suggestions that it wasn't appropriate, namely, "It's my book and I can call it what I like so there" (stamps foot).
Furthermore, if the author did find it appropriate to equate the accidental deaths of three rock n roll singers with the slaughter of thousands of soldiers on the most appalling battlefield the world had ever seen (and those of millions more in other wars, all of whom are remembered worldwide each year by the wearing of Flanders-inspired poppies) he might at least have got the name of the poem right.
