Thanks for that Brett. I kind of suspected that was the truth of the matter. I've been checking out Cherry Red Records YouTube radio page for old Joe Meek tapes to see what gems they have unearthed after they acquired his 64 Tea Chests of nearly 2000 reel to reel tapes. He let some big names slip through his hands, many of whom are on these tapes - Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Steve Marriott, Ray Davies, David Bowie, Georgie Fame, Status Quo, Marc Bolan, Alvin Lee & Gene Vincent - he must have been miffed to see most of these gain success with other producers in the mid 1960s?

Joe Meek was into Sci-fi electronic music as early as 1959
and in 1960 made a Space concept EP 'I Hear A New World'
Joe's work is really popular with today's Lo-Fi music fans
They Might Be Giants included an early Joe Meek composition, ‘I hear a new world’ on their album – The Else, reaching #9 on the Billboard Top Digital Albums 6 February 2007.

American musician John Frusciante, best known as the guitarist and backing vocalist with Red Hot Chili Peppers, includes ‘Joe Meek – Telstar – The Hits Of Joe Meek’ in his Top 40 list of his favourite albums of all time.
Other artists who found Meek inspiring are Frank Black, Dave Stewart, Sheryl Crow and Swing Out Sister, who recorded ‘Joe Meek’s Cat’.
