History repeats itself because people don't learn from it. Only a year before the Buddy Holly crash, an aircraft carrying the Manchester United football club crashed at Munich because the pilot didn't want to stay overnight. Let me ask; if you were on a plane that had aborted two take off attempts, would you get on the plane for a third go? Don't think I would and I know for a fact my wife wouldn't, but they all did....and the plane failed to take off and crashed. It transpired that it had run into slush when passed its point of no return.
If there is a risk in a zero sum situation, you should ALWAYS take the safety first approach. People don't learn.
