I wrote Shawn Nagy who has good knowledge of all things Petty Studio as well as his great Buddy website of 20 years ago.

He replied "the Reminiscing BMI publishing agreement with Nor-Va-Jak was signed by King Curtis and dated September 10th. King Curtis had over 120 BMI song credits and registrations to his name indicating Curtis was certainly capable on his own as a songwriter".

Asking about the Carolyn Hester recordings he stated "Carolyn specifically addressed this in an interview for the Petty Studio documentary I am working on. She says despite being at the Studio at the time, she does not know where the erroneous information of Buddy playing on her recordings sourced from. It was solely J.I. that provided drums for one track of her album. All songs on the Scarlet Ribbons album are her own acoustic guitar work. The Crickets were finishing up some work at the Studio but Buddy did not play on any of her recordings."
