James Kirkland pass away May 3. James was bass player for Bob Luman, played with James Burton and Ricky Nelson. When Bob Luman got drafted Kirkland went to work for Jim Reeves. He was the first to play electric bass on the Grand Old Opry. After Reeves he moved home ( Athens Texas). Occasionally played with Athens country singer Tony Douglas. Kirkland appeared several times as Nelson’s band on TV show “The Adventures of Ossie and Harrietâ€.
