I was not suggesting it is a "fake", only that establishing the genuine provenance could be tricky, and that there could be many reasons for that particular acetate to exist, all of which would result in a wide variety of value estimates.

If it was actually made at Petty's studio circa 1957, and sent to the publishing company to be transcribed to sheet music and published/registered,it would be a very cool and valuable item indeed.

However, if it was made years after the fact, simply to re-establish copyright, the value would be lower.

One element that should be relatively easy to determine is the brand or company name of the blank disc make.

That might help to determine the age of the original blank.
