That's what old people were saying in the 1950s. They had their happy memories of the 1910s and 1920s and they were shocked and disgusted by Elvis Presley and Little Richard.

Old people in the 1920s didn't like the radical changes they saw (like raucous jazz and short-skirted flappers) and instead yearned for the 19th century.
