Better late than never.

King Richard and the Knights released four 45s with vocals in the mid-‘60s on Delta Records. Albuquerque’s John Wagner Productions had signed the band because of its success with “Precision," a guitar-rock instrumental.

But sales of Instrumental guitar-rock offerings from the late ‘50s through 1964, began to take a back seat to British vocals, thanks to the Beatles. As a result, the studio wanted the Knights to try their luck with vocals.

We picked “Why” because it had a mix of frat rock and a hint of a rhythm that sounds a little British.

We also picked it because good friend and rare vinyl-records collector Allen Harley Clark who has presently purchased all of the Knights’ 45s, picked “Why.” According to him, it was at great expense, but well worth it.
