In reply to: Sean Callaghan 's message, "Buddy on AI" on Thu December 07, 2023 12:19:10

Here's one limitation of AI attempting to recreate Buddy Holly vocals: As Bob Dylan said in his Nobel Prize acceptance speech, Buddy sang in more than a few voices.

Living imitators can usually copy one aspect or another of his singing style, but Buddy did all sorts of things with his vocals.

Even one of the best attempts (in my opinion), the "Gotta Travel On" version from Rollercoaster, captures one part of his style. But vocally, Buddy had many tools in his toolbox.

Imitators, human or computer, can't reproduce them all.
