"American Graffiti" is actually set in the final days of summer in 1962, on a night before both "Curt" and "Steve" prepare to leave California to start college "back east."

After his death, I believe the "portable" Ampex 401A tape recorder (#5065) that Buddy purchased from Norman Petty - used at his Brevoort apartment in NYC - was eventually sold by Maria Elena to Jerry Allison who later sold it back to Norman Petty. The machine was mostly kept in storage in Clovis until it was later restored and put on display at Petty's famous studio many years later.
