Not according to the Goldrosen book. Jerry told Goldrosen the Crickets would have loved to do the overdubs, but they had separated from Petty at that point, and the Fireballs were Petty's new boys.

I agree with Sonny Curtis that the tracks should have been left undubbed. I remember how happy I was when I finally heard the clean Peggy Sue Got Married demo without all the posthumous nonsense added to it.
