 I remember many decades ago my local pbs tv station aired a Buddy Holly tribute concert. But this was during a fund drive, so before the program could begin, Gregory Hines gave a fundraising pitch, reading from a teleprompter.

When he reached the part of his script where he was supposed to announce the upcoming tribute to Buddy, he made a sour face. His whole demeanor changed briefly, before he returned to fundraising.

I remember wondering "what's his problem with Buddy Holly?"

But then a few years later I learned Gregory Hines appeared on SNL the same night Busey hosted. According to a book I read about the early days of SNL, Busey and Belushi tried to outdo each other in substance consumption.

And unfortunately, Busey's behavior towards cast members and guests was so extreme that it must have made a bad impression on Hines.
