Seriously, though, I don't think "boring" can be in the thing which is seen, no matter how frequently. I think "boring" can only be in the mind that perceives it. You see clouds, stars, rocks and waves all the time, too, but for thousands of years, civilizations worldwide have marvelled at them.

How's this for a question? If something must be novel in order to be interesting, does the issue of systematic desensitization matter in your opinion? Is this a good thing, or a bad thing? Is it good or bad in toto, or only in moderation? If the latter, how do we go about moderating it?
