Actually, he did threaten the girl that wouldn't go out with him. And didn't he say to one of the administrators "Careful, or you'll end up in my book too"?. That, though he new his book was just thoughts, was meant to be a threat because he new at that point that the book made people nervous.

However, I do think that in Ward's particular case, since (if I am recalling correctly) it was under a doctor's advice that he keep the journal, all that needed be done was check with the doctor and parents for the truth of that statement. If it was a lie, then by all means he should have been gone. If it was the truth, however, then I would think further counseling would be in issue, and an appology to the girl he scared.
