On the other hand, being stabbed, the recovery process (which would take place over the summer), and the resultant character changes which would arise from it might make for some good storylines, don't you think?

Don't forget Mark Greene on ER. And just to twist the knife a little bit more, they managed to kill him twice, sort of (once when Carter read the letter to the ER staff informing them of what had happened, and then, the next week when the viewers were witnesses).
