You might not necessarily appreciate the representation. Just think for a minute about the science teachers the writers have put in... one who turned out to be soliciting sex from underage students, and didn't even question a student who brought in a *hand* for examination. And the current science (physics) teacher has been seen igniting fire extinguishers to demonstrate action/reaction.

If DEK has an image of mathematicians/math teachers similarly, I could just see him writing an Einsteinian look-alike who scribbles equations across the board in a flurry and addresses student personal problems by relating stories of Newton and Archimedes.
