For both of you...
Jamey:
Thanks for your comments.
I agree that the past couple of episodes may have been disconcerting for newcomers. In fact, last night I was trying convince my sister-in-law to watch the show and just as soon as she said she'd give it a try, I found myself warning her about this weird storyline that's just beginning with Scott and Mrs. Peters (by the way, her son's name is Jeremy, not Jerome).

All that said, I don't think they need to get rid of anyone. They have the same number of characters that they started out with last season--remember Milton and Kevin? Also, I think they've done a good job of pushing most of the other character's storylines back while they introduce the new people.

In addition, I think they need a few "nice" people in the mix. At the very least they need them to sit around observing all the insanity around them and offer commentary.

Finally Jamie, I have a couple comments/questions:

#1 Why do you hate Marla (not Martha)? Personally, I think she's great. Sometimes she's funny, sometimes touching--and yes, sometimes just "touched".

#2 Not all baby-boomers like Malcom in the Middle.

Michael:
I too love a show that can appeal to a wide audience (I also love The Simpsons for that reason). However, I doubt BP is one of those shows. Too many issues are raised and resolved in ways that wouldn't appeal to many conservatives. Sometimes I have trouble with the way they're resolved and I am no conservative. Often the show goes for "shock value". I don't think many truly conservative people would find that something they wanted to see on a regulat basis.
