Subject: Conserv Christian / animals?
In reply to: Clare 's message, "Sorry, Tom" on 00:10:49 11/28/01 Wed

I'm a conservative Christian and I don't hate animals. I don't believe they're on the same level as humans because humans can think and reason and use logic, and do not act solely on instinct as most animals do. there are more intelligent animals such as dolphins and apes, and I appreciate those. I don't think it is ok to experiemtn on animals or abuse nature, but neither do I worship animals and nature. Nature is my habitat, and animals are my companions and sometimes my sustenance. We can not live on the earth without consuiming some of it be that animal mineral or vegetable, and consuming vegetables is no more loving or kind than eating an animal, as it would project arrogance to say that animals should be protected but not plant life.

Even animals kill and eat animals, and if you do believe in evolution (which may or may not be true, I don't know, but whether or not a study comes out does not compel me to put my belief in it, I still believe there is one True God and there are moral absolutes) then you have to ask why humans have digestive systems tolerant of meat and teeth used for the consumption of said meat.

As for God being involved, He is involved but has given us free will. Therefore I do not say why did God not do this or stop that, but when then did the Devil do this to us, or cause that to happen? The blame is so often put on God, and no fingers point to the devil, who really deserves the blame.

God is not a puppet master, He desire us to choose Him, and He gives us choices to make. The devil is allowed his tampering with the earth and entropy has its way with us.

But the earth will pass away, both the Bible and science have already predicted that.

This earth is a tomb, not a womb and it's killing us day by day. But we do what we can to appreciate its beauty and its gifts and there is still a lot of good here. We can't give up on it or each other.
