Russell, thanks for the information. Much of it I didn't know, some of it I learned years ago and have forgotten. You mentioned "dimensions", and I'd like to expand on this here:
..... That word has TWO MEANINGS. In one of them we talk about length, area and volume only (or more in some cases, possibly mathematically derived).
..... The second meaning refers to all sorts of units, as part of what I might call families.
LENGTH: (L) for example meters, feet, miles, etc.
AREA: (L squared) for example Square meters, Square feet, etc.
VOLUME: (L cubed) for example Cubic meters, gallons, liters, etc.
VELOCITY: (L/T) Length divided by time, or length per time
ACCELERATION: (L/(Time squared))
FORCE: (M*L/(Time squared) Mass times acceleration
etc. many more. If interested see a book on dimensional analysis. It can be useful in checking out some equations for mistakes.
