At a local music store, I saw a set of Ludwigs that was at least forty years old. The bass had the one lug design. Except for some fading of the white pearl finish and minor pitting of the chrome, the set was in great shape. It even had the original Zildjian cymbals, whcih were also in great shape.

However, the store wanted $1800 for them. My question, if anyone knows, is how can you tell if this is a collector's item which is worth the money, or just another nice vintage kit?
