Dear Fong Chee Keat: I have been using MegaMid for DOS since many years. I still find it very useful to use it on old machines for DOS midi playback. Your player has been my first choice ever since i found it on (back then) local BBS systems. I understand that it is your wish to no longer develop your old DOS version. For this reason, i would like you to please consider releasing the source code of your program for DOS under the GPL ( http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html ) license so that anyone in the world can continue maintaing it, and even porting it to other, past, present and future operating systems. GPL license is better than simple public domain release bacause it prevents (legally) someone from stealing yor code to make a for profit software derived from it. It is much better to release your code for all than letting it be forgotten into oblivion. Maybe you will want to learn about the various licenses commonly used for free (released with source) software: http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/license-list.html

I really hope you can contribute your excellent player to the world :) You could even like this method for enhancing all your software projects :) Community aid is very powerful. Please checkout the Free Open Source movement, a very interesting document describing it is here: http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/writings/cathedral-bazaar/
