Ma:

Remind me once more what you are taking steriods for? I probably read it somewhere, but I can't remember.

I think if I were you, I would go on a search for a doctor that could help you find a way to wean off these poison drugs. It sounds like your body is just not co-operating at all with them or when you wean from them. I didn't think that weaning when you were in the 20's was as hard as it was when you got below 10mgs. I am surprised that you are having so many problems at that high of a dose.

There has to be something they can do. Is the disease that you have under control without the steroids or do you think that it is flaring too each time you reduce? If you don't think you need them to control your disease is there any way that you could get off of them by being weaned in the hospital so they could monitor you. I don't know if they do that kind of thing, but I have thought about for myself. Just do a really aggressive wean in the hospital so that they can manage any adrenal crisis. Is that possible. I would say that your body just needs to be rid of the steriods.

Maybe you really do have Addison's disease and it is totally masked by taking prednisone. They give people with Addison's disease hydrocortisone which is supposed to work a little different than prednisone or medrol. I am not a doctor by any means, but it seems you are suffering unneedlessly and that SOMEONE should be able to help you. Isn't that why we have doctors?!!?!

I feel so bad that you are going through this. I wish I had a really good answer for you. I have been praying each day for you. God has the answers. Sometimes it just takes time to get to them. I will keep praying!

In the meantime, hang in there. You will get back to walking, swimming and enjoying life. My husband keeps telling me, "it's the drugs. You will feel better off the drugs." I hope he is right for both of us!

God Bless!

Karen
