Subject: A whole set of new problems

I have a whole set of new problems I am trying to deal with...I was just diagnosed with RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) in my left leg (from knee to foot). I have been reading about the treatments and they are not that great. One of them being steroids ACK! My rheumy, who diagnosed me, gave me a gout medication that caused my throat to close and an ER visit for IV benedryl (they wanted to give me solu-medrol too, but I refused). Then he sent me BACK to the ER for a vascular study on my leg which came back NORMAL, so RSD it is. He told me the other day to DOUBLE my dose of pred, which I refused to do, so I will start on neurontin Monday night. The pain is rediculous!! It feels like bees are stinging my leg, then it goes to burning pain, and then throbbing when I am laying down with the occasional bee sting for good measure. My foot and leg are funky reddish/mottled looking (SO attractive I tell ya) and ICE cold (which is why the vascular stuff was done). UGH...if it is not one thing, it sure is another!!! I can't even do PT yet because my leg is SO painful to the touch it's scary!! I am getting around using my crutches and wheelchair, so hopefully I won't completely atrophy by the time I get to do PT.

Sorry...enough whining LOL...I am just frustated by all this mess!! I am sending much love/hugs/prayers to all in the group!!

Love,

Ivy
