Dear Rosa,

I am so sorry that you are also having trouble weaning off prednisolone. I was started on 25mg in July last year and after 3 weeks was asked to reduced by 5mg a week, only managed to get down to 15mg and became really unwell that they put be back up again to 20mg.
My Dr told me that he had tried to weaned me down too soon, too quick.
We then tried reducing 5mg for another 3 weeks and ever since have been weaning down by 1mg and still get bad withdrawals with every drop.
Ivy is right saying that when we hit 10mg it becomes harder BUT DOCTORS DON'T TELL US THIS!!! or they simply don't know????
I am decreasing at a really slow rate, when my body is ready and I feel confident this is what I do:
Say I am on 3mg for 2 weeks, then I drop to 2mg and then go back to 3mg so it looks like this:
3-3-2-3-3-2 till I feel okay to stay on 2mg. With me, I must say I still feel the effects and I am still living proof of it as I have been on 2mg for 25 days and I am still NOT ready to attempt to reduce to 1mg.
My face still gets puffy and red and this time anxiety has really been getting hold of me, depression is also kind of setting in, sleeping a lot and no motivation or energy to do anything, a real struggle.
Thanks to Ivy, I feel more comfortable knowing why and what is happening to me, so I do understand.
Try to find a way where you can minimize the symptoms Rosa, I know how frustrating it is as all we want is, out of this prednisolone.
Do it slowly Rosa, the way you feel comfortable with!

Sending you lots of hugs & prayers,
Tiffany
xxxx
