Karen,

I also have gastroparesis...mine is caused by inflammation in my small bowel, hence the steroids. When I reduce my steroids, the inflammation comes RAGING back and I get really sick...can't keep anything down by SMALL sips of soda (water absorbs in the small bowel, which in me doesn't work right). It becomes dangerous for me since I dehydrate so quickly and of course have to keep my meds down. The steroids/6-mp work together to keep the inflammation at bay.

Nausea/vomiting is definitely a withdrawal symptom so it is hard to know which is which, but with me, it is the same animal. Ask your doc about anti nausea meds...zofran works the best for me, and it doesn't make me woozy (it has no central nervous system side effects). Also, read up on the GP diet...VERY low fat/LOW fiber/COOKED fruits and veggies with NO skin/seeds. Try to remember the GP motto "white is right"...white bread/white flour/white sugar...it is easier on the tummy to digest so it doesn't sit there too long making you feel sick :) I call that part of it the "anti-diet" LOL...it doesn't sound right, but trust me, it works well!

If you have ANY questions about GP, feel free to email me privately and I will try to answer the best I can!!

YOU don't deserve this either!!! You will get through this!

Much love/hugs/prayers to you!!

Ivy
