Alice,

While I can't answer your questions about pregnancy, I can answer your questions about steriods!! I do know (from TONS of personal experience and even more research), that ALL of the symptoms you are experiencing CAN BE FROM the amount of prednisone you were on, and for the amount of time you were on them. The prednisone, when on it for a month, lasts in your system for (with the worst side effects) for usually about 3 months, slowly getting better over time, but the full effects can take a year to leave your body. The good news is that IT DOES GET BETTER! The longer they are out of your system, the better you will feel...I know it doesn't seem like that now, but it is true!!

I would DEFINITELY find an endochronologist who can help you...especially since you are in the hospital. Have them run an AM cortisol level (as they are the MOST accurate) and an ACTH level for a baseline. I do not know if they will be off because of the baby...

The diabetes may be part of the pregnancy as well as the prednisone...so unfortunately, you might have to stick that one out for the duration...you will have to keep us up to date on that one!!

As for the muscle/bone problems...I developed SEVERE muscle atrophy after IV steroids a couple of years ago, and although it took me quite a while of physical rehabilitation to get back to myself...it can be done! The best news of all is that YOU ARE OFF THE PREDNISONE, which means your body will be able to heal MUCH faster then mine was able to (I live on them for an autoimmune disease).

Try to keep the faith that everything will keep getting better and that the end result (a healthy, happy baby) will be well worth all this torture!! :)

Please let us know how you are you doing!!

Ivy
