Subject: Well...add FIBROMYALGIA to my steroid resume

I have had pain increasing at a steady rate for a few months now. Of course, I related it to the prednisone taper. I had taken more Loritab than usual because of an 8 day headache from hell a couple of weeks ago, and ran out. When I called my GP for a refill, he made me come in. After a full exam, he said I painted the perfect picture of fibromyalgia. BUT, at least I am getting treatment for it. He put me on Trazodone, and I slept all night for the first time in 3 years. Also upped the Loritab allowance, changed muscle relaxer to Chlorzoxazone and added a non-steroid anti inflamatory called Diclofenac. I was thinking Becky...you may want to have your mother examed for this. The headaches were caused from it too.

What a road to travel!

I also found out Tuesday I need additional eye and sinus surgery. Remember all the antibiotics I have been on for over a year? Well...it was all for nothing. My previous surgeons (Opth and ENT) left a "SURGICAL OPENING" in my right sinus cavity so instead of everything draining out through the natural opening, it was all going in circles and not coming out...period. Of course, it got infected! He has me irrigating the sinus several times a day with saline until I can get in for surgery. My CT also showed a tremendous amount of scar tissue behind my eyes that is pulling everything toward the center...whatever that means and my left eye is sliding into the sinus cavity, so they will insert fat or something to hold my eye in the orbit where it belongs.

BUT at LEAST I now have great physicans at Vanderbilt and we are traveling in the RIGHT direction for a change. I refuse to let it get me down! I am also going to be starting therapy at a Christian Mental Health, non profit organization to learn skills in pain management and stress reduction and a review of my antidepressants with possible changes in that.

Hope everyone is doing well...anyone heard from Big Ma Judy lately? I was thinking about her!

Judy
