I work part time for the countyu as traffic control and cashier for parking. Last night Maya Angelou ( Poet) ws speaking where I was stuck outside collecting the money from the people going to se her. I was wearing the bright yellow jacket that crossing guards use. I told people in fancy cars and not so fancy cars that I ws wearing yellow but green with envy that they were going to see someone I find as an inspiration both in life and as a poet, Earlier I even thought of going to see her speak butthe cheapest ticket was $56.00 and too much for me to afford. So last night I was in the cold and wind (here in Las Vegas) and tellng everyone how I wish I was going with themto see her knowing and sire that being next to the building she was in was as close as I'd get. God knew better. I'd planned to work and go home tired as usual. instead I found myself almost running to the buildng she was speaking in, with a miracle in my pocket. Someone who planned to sell thier ticket decided they weren't going to sell it and gave it to my friend and fellow employee to give away. I was still reeling
and drinking in the blessing when the usher walked me to my seat 12 rows from the stage and nearly dead center, a $110.00 ticket. I got there just in time to hear her say,"Be a rainbw in the clouds" and remind us that courage is the most imprtant virue because without it none of the other virtues can be sustained. She said,"no one is born with courage." and told us that courage can't be gotten all of a sudden that, "you can't just pick up a hundred pound weight you have to build up with 5 pound weights, then ten." You my sweet Ivy have built your courage through time and hardships and I have no doubt whatever happens you will have what it takes to get through it and as Maya said,"do more than survive and more than thrive." You already are a rainbow in the clouds reaching and touching others lives, people you do't even know have been touched by what you write on this board. Don't worry about plans because if they fall through dissappointment follows. Take it as it comes, dream and have faith that those dreams will come true, beiieve it then leave the planning to God.
We love you and we pray your dreams come true.
