Subject: Had my Kenalog Injections today

I just got home from Vanderbilt. This is what she did...

They put a numbing cream above and below and then injected me with a numbing drug before she did the steroids. Then, she injected above and below my eyes...4 total. I really just felt pressure as she injected it. She said it is thick and it took a few minutes to get it on. But, it was really easy, no big deal!

My eyes are almost swollen shut since I got home and I am getting a bad headache. I was a little anxious before I left, so I took a buspar and 1 pain pill. I just repeated the same meds to get a handle on the headache before it goes into a migraine. That is what it feels like, and it's all probably from my nerves and getting a bit over anxious.

Dr. Mawn said I should see an improvement in about a week. She has already talked to Dr. Bao, my new Endo and she is going to start me on a new drug, that is less invasive that the predisone to help me taper off. She remarked on how bad my Cushing's was and said it had gotten WAY out of hand and it was killing me, literally and I must get off as soon as possible.

Before I had the injections, I asked her about muscle atrophy at the injection site. I explained I had read that many people injected with kenalog had problems, and she said she had never had this happen and has done the procedure many times.

She said once we get this under control, we'll do surgery to correct my alignment and double vision.

I'll keep you guy's posted every step of the way, so if anyone else has to take the injections for TED, you'll know what to expect.

Judy
