Becky,

It usually takes at least a full week for my spasms to start easing up a bit. It can take up to 3 weeks for ALL of my achy pain to go away. I know it is not a great idea to stay on high doses for that long, which is why the docs try to wean down faster then that, side effects or not. When weaning is done too quickly, the pain takes longer to ease up, because the body has not had a chance to stabilize from the last time. Mixing pain meds with other types of relaxants can be dangerous because they all repress respiration to some degree...only her doctor can determine if she is able to be on more then originally prescribed.

I know how frustrating all of this can be!! Look into keeping her as comfortable as possible, but keep reassuring her that the pain WILL GET BETTER!! It just takes time...I know that is a small consilation when going through it (and believe me, I know...I am going through withdrawals myself now)! Another way to keep her comfy might be (if her skin is not too sensitive) to use heat or ice...whichever makes her feel better. I prefer ice for my spasms...but I am a bit quirky like that LOL...most people prefer heat. It is worth a try though.

I hope she finds relief soon!!

Ivy
