Just one additional point on this - When asked what the Continental Congress had given the people, Ben Franklin replied, "We have given you a republic - if you can keep it!"

Our founders were correctly afraid of a democracy and Thomas Jefferson wrote against the concept, citing chaos as one of the direct results of a pure democracy.

Fight to keep our Republic free!
