China¡¯s Power Players
Popular Chinese film magazine New Cinema has compiled its list of the most influential individuals in the Chinese film industry. The list is based on a combination of each individual's ability to get a film off the ground, their control over projects and popularity with the public.

In the number one spot for 2003 is director Zhang Yimou, whose recent successes include Hero, which took over $30 million at the Chinese box office, making it the most successful Chinese film of all time. Yimou¡¯s Not One Less screened in Rotterdam in 2000. Other directors on the power list include Feng Xiaogang, at number three, as well as Chen Kaige; Tian Zhuangzhuang, whose Springtime in a Small Town started life as a CineMart project; Zhang Yuan, who has brought his latest film Green Tea to Rotterdam this year; He Ping and Huo Jianqi.

Among actors, Jiang Wen tops the bill, propelled to number five by recent hits Green Tea, which screens today at 13.00 in Path¨¦ 3 and tomorrow at 12.30 in Luxor, and Warriors of Heaven and Earth. Others on the list include Zhao Wei¡£
