I must ask you
to not ask me
to meet your eyes;
they will clash,
like red and orange,
like moon and sun, rising,
meeting, breaking, a celestial war
of wills.

Because I have an imbalance here
which tells me I'm lesser than you,
a child of a lesser god, or some such,
some suspension of being, being so much
less.

(II.)
I do not like the night,
its air is too thin,
unbreathable as it were,
cloying with moonglow and an absence of light,
an absence of every secret thing.

I do not like the day,
its air is too thin,
unbreathable as it were,
glowing with sunlight, hideous,
revealing, and ugly.
Give me dusk,
or the blue-grayness of dawn,
push me through night's womb
or bathe me in day's blood
before it is swallowed by
foetus of night.
