Well Ian this has to be my favourite of yours to date - I have read it many times and will do so again, each time discovering something new. It is visually descriptive and emotive with a desperate and haunting atmosphere of a lost love, which so many people will identify with. The repetition of the unfinished line of Chatelaine - reminds me of the ballads of old (which I am currently teaching!) and indeed this could be turned into a song.

Much enjoyed.
