Oh legend of the sky, symbol of freedom
Whose graceful form tore through the wounded cloud
You swooped and turned and climbed above our Kingdom
Cannon spitting fire, as victory you vowed.
Your elegant glory warmed a nation
The banner that signified it’s courage
You winged warrior were our salvation
Still we wonder and pay homage.
You who battled against our foes with dignity
Of your grace and beauty many will tell
You who will be glorified for eternity
Were guided by the many who fell
Those who would tell of your speeding splendour
Would tell of the fear and of the hell
Of being trapped within your perfect contour
Of the tears and lives shed in your shell.
