to the pits
of fruit
therein do;
they lie.

Picking fruit
to take to me

it is

wholesome,
to so oft -
- en, there munch,
upon:

in the utter
dark doorways
or plain sidewalks;

with the littlest
skinny
yellow flowers,

there they grow
waifs, there having their
petal
very lofty, and light

as any moth,

butterfly
in their
flying by:

Sing that song again,
in the hollow,

where mice and caterpillar

squirm,
fetch the tidbits
as small as
germs

water is hidden
inside;

all vacant
crevices
