Well this should be taken as a warning lest it become phrophetic.

Your use of descriptive adjectives certainly paints a clear image, which becomes haunting:

'Twisted metal in crumpled ruins,
As far as one can see.'

Strong images of a living hell

'Horrific hell swept through our lives,
Innocent souls maimed and slain.'

which I can only hope and pray my children will never see.

Setting apart the third stanza with the four rhetorical questions certainly engages the reader. It would be interesting to see if those responsible could answer them.

A very different style for you Gem but it works well with the subject matter. Your skillful use of rhythm and rhyme gives it a smooth floor yet the imagery gives it the depth required.
