Quit Lying

You shouldn't lie to me,
Pretending you are where you are.

I saw you driving down the road,
Turning a corner, just the other day
And another time, in a pickup truck
With someone else.

And like a wink, you are where
You are again, miles away,
You shouldn't lie to me today.

There's a war going on,
They say it's because of
"Weapons of Mass Destruction".
And at night I see buildings exploding.

But during the day,
I turn the TV on, and every
Salesman in the world is selling
Themselves like World War II.

I wish I knew what they were doing,
Yes, I was listening.
And patriotism like a name brand
That we can't live without.

Without a doubt.
Just because people are risking
Their lives to fulfill whatever..
I mean, I can't assure that makes
It a good idea.

But I don't know, I don't know a
Thing about it really,
And from what's on TV,
I guess I won't.

"Mass destruction" though,
That means you and me.
I wish you'd stop being where you are,
And get out of one of those
Damn cars going by.
