Subject: Re: The thorns are beautiful
In reply to: Richard Blake 's message, "The thorns are beautiful" on 20:35:40 08/24/02 Sat

I liked this a lot Richard, particularly the line

'The thorns are beautiful and I embrace them'

although not so fond of the line

'I’ll always choose pollution in a sea'

however, the 'dark side' comes through and I have a tendency to prefer that kind of poetry as it is often more expressive.

I could almost visualise the Greek Gods watching the scene below in the second stanza.

Much enjoyed.

Raphaela

>The thorns are beautiful and I embrace them.
>Though waves of opposition flung at me
>Demand I love the petals, else I die,
>I’ll always choose pollution in a sea
>Above the crystal swelling of the tide,
>Of light and dark, forever prefer dim.
>
>The prideful ones who live up in the sky,
>Who stoop to dip their fingers in the clouds,
>And who, on bended knee persuade the bold
>To bow, forsaking truth but forging doubts,
>Extinguishing each fire with a cold
>Contagious spark that bears a cry
>Are those who’ll be extinguished in the end,
>Who thought me not an enemy but friend.
