There is a tone of realism and sincerity that underpins this poem, which has a far greater effect (for me personally) than the over sentimental poems, although understandable in the circumstances.

One of the best I have read on this subject to date.

Raphaela

>Waves are now azure and calm
>like nothing happened
>Hudson- runs into the salty bay
>no more- empty picture frames on the sidewalks;
>Momories are scattered
>West Side Highway-- now restless
>the wind blew the ashes into the sea
>
>No time for bitterness when the moonlight
>glimmers on the waters;
>The reflection of the towers no longer stands
>tall and strong; To- pretend to hold a smile is not
>easy
>but run out of words it is, for- those who perished
>hidden behind the wall of silence--
>mother, father, brother, sister, son...
>
>Youth got lost in time frozen with fear,
>but God please forgive me
>if I touched this subject; The- flames sank low
>on the sacred candle... And who wants to talk of
>a mortal- flight into- disintegration...
>The day when sirens howled; Stares have
>now become distant, gravestones invisible
>
>In memory of September 11.2001.
