A MAN CRIED

You cried
When your animals died,
As seen on TV
How terribly you grieve.

For in my eyes 'Mo'
You are a most manly man
Dealing with devastation of ten years
Of good works taken by fire evil's plan.

That started in another's ceiling
Spreading to neighboring stores
In a possible revenge intentional act
By one murdering, low-life saboteur?

Is it cause you're a Moses rejecting a Golden Calf
That you care so for cats, dogs, fish and fowl
As those in the now burnt down Pet Shop
With also the homeless ones of the Bronx?

I can imagine the once joy in the morning
When opening your store door
To the sound of the bird's chirping and singing
And 'Mishypoo's welcoming meow you adored.

Now all horribly gone
And praying I someone
With much deeper pockets than me
Will be able to help you by and by.

Were you so saving so hard
For a dream of a homeless animal shelter
There was no money for fire insurance
Because everything seemed so very kelter?

And events such as a fire
Just did not seem possible
Living your contented daily life
Until along came the inconceivable.

Now my heart breaks for them and you
And all the good you've done.
For shun not I, the love you have and had
Of these animals .. Each and everyone.
