I am just catching up with some reading and commenting. I could understand how you felt in this and how it took a while for you to write the subsequent poems. It took me a while before I could write about my late father. I think these lines sum it up - where we can escape and be alone with our thoughts and memories.

in our minds when we need to....
to rest and cleanse.'
