I also feel the tradition should be kept as close to the original as possible. I'm making this reply MONTHS after the June Graduation. I don't recall hearing if the graduation ceremony used lit candles or not this year (June 2004). I recall a graduating class several years ago (class of 2000? but don't quote me) opted not to use the candles or even the candle holders. A school administrator mentioed to me all the old candleholders were either thrown away or lost in the deep caverns of the pipe chases under the main building. I wonder what candleholders are being used now?
