Subject: a redneck revelation

After coming home from my friend Sheena's house quite stoned and somewhat lacking in logic, I saw a documentary on Merle Haggard last night. Merle "Okie from Muskogee" Haggard was a country singer in the late 60's that was the Toby Keith of his day...uber patriotic and mildly retarded. He wrote songs such as "Walking on the Fighing Side of Me" and of course, "Okie from Muskogee" where he famously sang "We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee". At first I was rather appalled by this total abscence of oh, say a brain? but then I was able to relate to him enough to start agreeing with him. The damn hippies were ruining the country, god is on our side in vietnam, and goddammit this oregano looking stuff I've been smoking like a chimney lately is the devil's seed. I started to wonder if perhaps I should start going by the title "okie from muskogee". This started screwing with my head for a while, until I remembered that Merle Haggard has been, always was, and still is a total fucking moron. The moral or point to this post? None, really. I was just bored, this is the closest thing to a journal I have and it's damned fun to put down elderly country singers that are to feeble to defend themselves.
