Well, it's been an interesting day. After my classes at the University, I took a hike down to Ear Candy Music. I spied an Operation Ivy vinyl and asked John Flemming (owner of Ear Candy) what edition it was. He flipped through his little book, examined some markings on the vinyl and said it was a first edition first pressing of the Op Ivy "Hectic" EP. I asked him how much for it, and after examining the record he said SEVEN DOLLARS. Seven dollars, first edition, damn near pristine. Wowee. Picked it up along with a used copy of Defiance's "Out From the Ashes" (also very good). The Op Ivy record plays beautifully and the energy comes out way better on the original vinyl than on the digitally remastered CD. Screw you Derek, I'm saying ANALOG ALL THE WAY!!! So if any of you see John Flemming (looks sorta like the Dad from the Family Circus in a Dead Moon T-shirt) tell him how fucking cool he is because Charlie said so (enough of this might also pave the way for a discount for yours truly on an original pressing green vinyl Nirvana "Love Buzz" single that usually runs about 300 bucks and is fairly rare). After this, I went to see Nerds With Instruments in Hamilton, but alas it seems that nerds may be breaking up. A band was needed to fill in for their slot, so Chris and Tim from Killing the Hare and I started a band called "The Poseurs" on the spot. We played a cover of "No Values" by Black Flag and Operation Ivy's "Knowledge". Both really really sucked (because we hadn't even practiced them and Chris didn't exactly know the bass lines) but it was the most fun I've had playing music in a while. After the covers we did an improv set for a while, in which I whipped up one of those really incredible spur-of-the-moment guitar solos than nobody on earth can remember how to play. We were playing mostly to a crowd of young schoolkids which was...to say the least...interesting. But yeah. There it all is. Helluva day.

Charlie
