An explanation he had, but an explanation he would not give! Not if he could possibly bear a little bit longer of keeping a secret to himself! And after months of planning, a few more minutes wouldn't hurt him. Though the excited suspense was nearly enough to kill a dead man.

Catching her as she flung herself on him, his arms wrapped firm about her waist and purr rumbling with a lively sense of laughter about it, he held her close gaze with eyes and features dancing with a joyful anticipation. Would she love the surprise as much as he loved giving it? "Ravishing, darling, you look stunning." But then -and she need not necessarily know this truth- had she been wearing a burlap sack, he would have found her beautiful. How fortunate for her, then, that he had somewhat better fashion sense than that when gifting her with garments! "And I'm not telling you where we're going! That would spoil the whole surprise! So, are you ready? Do you have your shoes on?" Granted, they were thoroughly iced over in death, but he nevertheless did not want her toes uncomfortable.
