An unexpected flip-flop of roles indeed, but most welcome and perhaps worth taking as a sign that their relationship had finally evened out. That she was no longer a prisoner and he no longer her captor, forget who was sire and who was fledgling. All that mattered at all was that for the first time in 500 years, he had a partner who honestly, deeply, utterly and completely loved him, saw through his masks, knew him for what he was on the inside, and patient enough to allow him to get his kicks out, like a green and rambunctious colt, before asking him to concentrate on building anything constructive between them. And he could have known that support earlier if he had only paid attention to the beauty who shared his living space and folded his laundry so lovingly. But her gentle nip thankfully held at bay the sudden urge to resume apologizing and it was with a subtle urgency that he responded to her lips and stifled a shiver as her hand ran along his back. What soft-souled seraphim would accept back into her arms a companion and lover so reckless and self-centered as this young devil? Though... mistakes were opportunities to learn and things just might be different this time. Though again, with as many mistakes as he had made in his life, he ought to have been perfect already. Thank the dear sweet golden goddess of patience that she would gift him with yet another chance! Caressing her back softly, he lightly caught hold of the fingers that strayed through his own and drew a shallow breath to drink in her whisper, responding instantly with a confident kiss, comfortable at last in admitting his answer as he pulled back just slight enough to give the words room to slip from his lips. "I love you." Simple as that. No need to spout out poetry. Just follow with a renewed firm locking of lips and a forward lean into her soft figure.
