The mare nodded, not answering yet. She leaned against the tree, catching her breath and waiting for the pain to subside. When it lessened enough that she wasn't going cry out again she gave a forced smile and shrugged. "I know, I just didn't know it would be that rough." She hesitated, then asked. "Did you mean it? That I would be lead mare?"
